Why I switched from Membervault to Thrivecart

DISCLOSURE: This page contains affiliate links, but these are all products I highly recommend. I won’t put anything on this page that I haven’t verified and/or personally used AND LOVE.

I love me a good “school/membership” platform.  I’m actually a NERD about customizing the platforms to make them match my brand.  I love love love creating/customizing etc etc .. I could actually hide behind my computer and do this all day. (Totally my zone of genius).

My Membervault experience.

When I created “Beautifully Branded Business” course (by the way it’s super cool … you should check it out here).  I needed to find a course platform, and a biz bestie suggested I check out Membervault.

At the time, she was using it and it was FREE .. It isn’t any longer tho. ;-(

So I jumped in and got a FREE account (until eventually I needed a paid account).

Membervault was SO MUCH fun to customize and it does some pretty cool stuff.  You can customize colors, image headers, and you can even add confetti and a congratulations message once lessons are complete.  That is badassy .. I love that feature.

It was super easy to integrate with ConvertKit .. and whenever someone purchased my course everything fell into place super easy.

It’s a REALLY fun and easy platform, and user friendly as hell.

I’m also a consumer of courses who use this platform, and as a consumer it’s awesome.  (Again, who doesn’t like confettis once finishing a lesson/module.)

My ThriveCart experience.

I moved over to ThriveCart early 2022, because I was due to renew my stock photo membership (was using WooCommerce at the time) and I was looking for a platform that did everything.

As a Canadian business owner, I have to charge HST/GST to Canadian buyers, and using Membervault payments would not allow me to do so.  (Not at that time, and at the time of writing this blog post.)

So I was on the market for a new platform that would allow me to do #allthethings.   I needed a platform that would allow me to have a membership/subscription payment option, a course portal and charge Canadians appropriate taxes.

This is when I found ThriveCart.  I did my research and discovered that I could get all this and more moving over to ThriveCart.  The best part was the ONE TIME FEE .. Yes it was a LIFETIME fee .. so it was a no brainer.

I was paying roughly the same amount on WooCommerce .. and it was annually.  Soo it was an easy decision for me to make.

I loved Membervault, and I loved using WooCommerce.  For me it was price and features.

WooCommerce has all these extra plugins you have to purchase to make everything work like you want it too in the back end ..

ThriveCart = ONE TIME FEE!!!

PLUS!!!! ThriveCart has these amazing Checkout pages, and you can create upsells, downsells, one time offers, etc etc.

Customizing my ThriveCart student/member portal.

This has been such a FUN experience.  It was a learning curve, but this is where I can nerd out all day 😉

I was able to customize my courses & membership portal to match my brand style and so much more.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ThriveCart, and I kinda wished I found it sooner.

Now I’m a ThriveCart girl through and through.

If you don’t have ThriveCart yet, but want to get it .. Click here for my affiliate link.  If you purchase it using my link, you will receive Julie’s ThriveCart Checkout Collection (10 checkout templates). They are perfect to get you started and .. you don’t have to start those checkouts from scratch!!

Final Thoughts.

I loved working with all 3 platforms .. and the only reason I would recommend ThriveCart over the others, if for the ONE TIME FEE!!!

If you have any questions about these platforms or why I made the switch, send me a DM on IG.  I’d love to hear from you.

Stay Beautiful,

Julie xo
