It’s impossible to be an expert at #allthing, and we want to stay creating in our zone of genius anyway .. AMMI Right?
So I asked my biz bestie Allison to give us the deets on what’s HOT on the Gram for 2022.
Here is what she wrote …
The CDC now recommends these actions on Instagram for greater results.
Do not mind me poking a bit of fun with a CDC pun, but in all seriousness, if you are reading this you want Instagram growth and you want it this year!
It is safe to say you are constantly inundated with strategies and new features on Instagram. This can be frustrating and overwhelming. Lucky for you, there are five hot trends this year that will keep you ahead of the curve and stop you from pulling your hair out.
Here is what you will see more of this year on Instagram and things you can start doing today to get your business and brand noticed.
First, shopping!
I am not talking about Target runs or Amazon boxes delivered to your doorstep several times a week (wink, wink). Get ready to see more Instagram shopping options (and ads) from e-commerce businesses. If you are an e-commerce business owner, you will need to jump on this trend immediately and set up your Instagram shop, organize your collections and use product tags in your posts.
This is straight forward, but to walk you through it step by step, here is a great reference guide by Instagram: https://business.instagram.com/shopping. This is extremely exciting, but remember, Instagram is still a relationship building/visual platform! Every business owner, including e-commerce businesses, should still focus on building connections with their audience and not spam their products all over the platform.
Secondly, authentic content is still king!
There was a big wave last year on more authentic, real content or experiences on Instagram. This year it will be obvious! Fake is out; real is in. What does this mean for you? No more shyness and get in front of your audience through photos and videos. People do business with those they can relate to and share real life experiences with. So go ahead and show that messy kitchen with your hair in a bun and a stain on your shirt!
Third, Video!
This year reels and short form video will be the most consumed kind of content on Instagram (and frankly, all social media platforms.) Last year Instagram changed its IGTV feed to a basic video feed, giving video a dedicated feed (except for Reels.) Time to put on your big girl panties and get in front of the camera.
Fourth, there is something else you are going to see more of this year.
Influencers! I am not talking your big, celebrity type people. Get ready for more relatable micro and nano-influencers. They have a smaller follower size but considered to be more genuine and they attract genuine engagement.
Micro influencers have 1000 to 10000 followers on Instagram with a specific niche. A nano influencer typically has less than one thousand followers but have major influence in their local neighborhood and communities. (Could this be you?)
And finally, you will see more collaborations between business owners and entrepreneurs.
They are creating collaborative posts and reels to expand their reach and visibility, which will result in more views, more followers and brand authority. Collaborations are not only easy to do, but fun! I highly recommend listing to one of the bonus episodes, Easiest Instagram Hack to Boost Your Views and Reach Now on the Social Media for Mompreneurs Podcast.
Between influencers, more videos, collaborations, authentic content, and shopping, which trend are you most excited about, and which trend will you try?
