Hey everybody, welcome to another episode of the podcast. I’m so excited, because today is the beginning of a new partnership with my dearest friend and biz bestie Tara Reed. Welcome, Tara. Thank you. I’m so excited. This is going to be so much fun. Right? So today is the start of coffee chat with Tara and Julie. And I’m so excited because this is going to be a series of episodes that we’re going to bring to you once a month. So I’ll have this for you once a month. And it’s Tara and I basically having a candid conversation about all things business, what we challenges we face, what we we do what we think is good, what we think is bad, and just having an transparent, honest conversation about all things business that we can share with you openly. But before we start today’s episode, I would love for Tara to because if you’re listening and you’re like Tara, who’s Tara, everybody should know Tara because she’s amazing human being and she’s an amazing business, business person and all the things and amazing all around. And you know what, also it’s funny because when I, when we first saw before we started this partnership, it was really cool because I’m like, I’m like will have the view of an extrovert, which is what I am. And Tara is totally an introvert. So this is going to be so cool, right, Sarah, but I’d love for you to tell. Tell the listeners a bit about yourself. Yeah, I love that everyone listening is going to get extroverted energy, introverted energy, and it’s just gonna come together in such a nice format. And I’m excited about it.
Tara Reid
So I am Tara, I’ve been a online entrepreneur for 17 years now. And yeah, it’s been a last
Julie C Butler
year just Tara, this thing Yeah.
Tara Reid
I actually started my first business many years ago as a handmade jewelry business. Through that I kind of learned a lot about marketing and the online business world. And because I was having success with different marketing methods and strategies that I was teaching myself, I started getting people coming to me and asking me for help. So that’s kind of how I naturally shifted over into services and now coaching as a multi passionate I have, like 50 digital products and offers and programs and things going on in my business. So I really also love working with fellow introverts I struggled for I just realized this recently, when I shared it, I actually struggled for the first 10 years of my business as an introvert because I was trying to force myself to do things that were not fun, were overwhelming, were exhausting and really stressing me out. And it was not very good for my energy level. It kind of sucked the fun out of the business that I really was passionate about. So now I really love working with multi passionate, I love working with introverts and helping them avoid that 10 year figure it out on your own path that I took. And yeah, I make I’m excited. I guess I never share anything personal in these intros. It’s always just business. I am in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. So me and Julie are pretty close. And I have three fur babies as well. And I live here with my husband, I work from home full time love it. I’m also a big Netflix binge eater and book reader. And as an introvert, that’s how I recharge and get my energy back.
Julie C Butler
That’s funny you say that because you know as an extrovert, that’s also how I like to recharge. Because I’m a huge Netflix, binge eater to Netflix, Amazon, Disney plus whatever you name,
Tara Reid
all the streaming services.
Julie C Butler
Amazing. Amazing.
Tara Reid
There we go. All right, so let’s kick this off. I’d love to hear about your 2022 let’s chat about it. I 2022 was was different I feel it was it was unique in the sense that people were coming a little bit more out of the COVID bubble a little bit to shift a little bit. So what are some things that you did in 2022 that you know, either worked or didn’t work? Um, has Yeah,
Julie C Butler
you know, like 2022 was was it was good. And it was like I like looking back now. I can honestly say that it was a good learning year for me like in terms of learning. Like looking back at What I did in my business, and what I want to bring forward what I want to leave out, and so it was like one of those years, right, like watching how everything kind of like, flourished or flowed or like, what was selling what wasn’t selling, like where my where my, you know, like looking at the pie chart, like where was the most of my money, but versus like how much energy I spent on different things. So I can honestly look at the whole, like, like a bird’s eye view of a business and be like, Okay, I have a whole year now I can nitpick and move forward into 2023 and bring forward and not bring forward right, like, did you find it was like that for you as well?
Tara Reid
Yeah, I felt like 2022 I love that you said learning because I feel like I did a lot of learning, testing kind of trying things out. It was it was a big year. I feel like a discovery of of how to move forward. And I have like my word of the year for 2023 is intentional. I feel like I need to be more intentional about where I’m expending my time and energy, because I think, like, kind of similar. And you might be the same. I said yes to like almost everything in 2020 to like every bundle every Summit, pretty much that I could manage. I was saying yes. Because I just wanted to continue to try different things try out new bump offers for summits. I mean, I know you created new offers for some events that you did. So I like things like that, like it’s a big, it’s a good way to test things out and see how you want to move forward. And yeah, I did a lot of the same this year.
Julie C Butler
Yeah, like and that’s it, right? Like I have my core program. And like I came to some realizations, that’s for sure. Like January, when I looked at the big picture, I was like, I like I definitely came to some realizations, I look at my Google Analytics, which if you don’t have you must, because that also can help you make decisions moving forward in your business right now that I’ve got a full year that I can look at the stats and everything. And but I tried, you know, coming up with like, smaller offers, and like master classes or like mini workshops, or like digital products and things like that, because, like you I’m also multi passionate, but also I’m a creative, right. And so whenever I feel like and I think I speak for yourself when I say this, that whenever we’re having the itch to like, you know, completely revamp our website while we just go and create templates for people to buy, right?
Tara Reid
So I did that at the end in December with the rebrand.
Julie C Butler
I know and you did such a wonderful job. Your website is like, amazing.
Tara Reid
Thank you. Yeah, I’m still realizing there’s been a couple of emails recently where I forgot to relink things up. There’s still some some kinks, it happens to the best of us. But I’m very happy with the messaging and the design. So at least I don’t feel like I have to play with that every single month because that’s hard.
Julie C Butler
And you know, like working on our website, like I mean, that says practice it’s a it’s a it’s a process, right? Like, as we grow as our skills develop, like we’re just always constantly growing and learning. And our website needs to follow us with that. Right. So there’s going to be times throughout the year or once a year where we have to kind of make modifications a little bit and some level to our websites, right. Our websites, our messaging, etc, right?
Tara Reid
Yeah. Yeah, I think that’s where you need to have some flexibility. Like, I always talk about clarity, but you can have clarity, and it’s still it’s going to shift, it’s going to evolve, like we evolve as people So our business is going to evolve in the same way. Where are we exactly? constantly review and update things? Yes.
Julie C Butler
Yeah. Because, you know, like, it’s, it’s, it’s not, we can’t just create a website and forget about it for like the next five years, right? Like, we can’t do that anymore, right? I mean, I guess you could, but like, we changed so much or offers change or our messaging changes or we evolve Right? Like or maybe your brand becomes like a higher level brand. And so you’re our website’s need to reflect who we are right? But I love what you said about your your words for the year because my word was alignment, right, which is similar to yours. I think, because me I am in like, I’m going to focus on things that I’m feeling in alignment with, right versus not in alignment with right and so it was It was really good. Like I really like I was excited excited for 2023. Because, well, not only that, but like I had a strategy session with the amazing Terra, and it was incredible. And so because I’m not a strategist, right? Like, I’m a creator, like, tell me what to do, and I will do it. And so it’s, it’s, it was so awesome that I was able to come to you. And you know, book that book book that appointment with you that session that you were able to help me with my business and strategize with me and create a plan for 2023. Looking at looking back at 2022, what went on what happened, where my money came from, and all the things right, so it’s just so cool. And I’m so excited for what this year is going to bring. But I’d love to talk with you about some of the things that we noticed from 2022 that we’re not bringing forth or that we are bringing forth.
Tara Reid
Yeah, I have a lot of things. Um, yeah, I mean, for me, especially like one of the things I definitely decided to bring forward and put more energy and time into is this podcast, like doing two episodes a week. Now I was like, Oh, this is a big commitment. But I think it is going like looking at the numbers, the numbers and the energy around it. Like I actually really love doing the podcast now. I mean, for a little bit there. It was draining, but that’s why I went on a two month break. And now I’m like, I’m, I’m ready. I’m excited. And going to two episodes per week. I think it’s going to be amazing. I’m not going to say I’m going to like stick to that forever. Probably will eventually go back to one maybe we’ll see. But I mean, that’s the beauty of business, you can let they change you Oh, and change things up. Yeah.
Julie C Butler
Yeah. Also, you could take like a holiday break, right? Like, because I know you do seasons. And I really love that having seasons for your podcast like season one, season two, not season sorry. Season.
Tara Reid
I call them seasons. Yeah, you call them
Julie C Butler
seasons, okay. And I really liked that. I liked that. And so because like you can take a break for December in January and launch back again, February 1 and have like a full year of your, you know, amazing podcast episodes, right?
Tara Reid
And making sure to to batch record, because at the end of the year, I ran into that where I was like, oh, shoot, I’m I like, I don’t have the episode like an episode ready for next week. So I had to get back into that. Yes, that kind of workflow where I’m able to batch record, which yeah, I’ve done pretty well, for for so far this year. I’ve gotten ahead quite a bit so far. And that’s awesome. A lot more interviews scheduled. So yeah, I’m excited about, I mean, your podcasts that we’re on right now, too.
Julie C Butler
I know. And then, you know what, like, it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for like, a few years. And I’m like, I need to get my podcast out. Because, you know, like, I hosted my first summit in the fall. And that was an eye opener to me, because it was like it made me remember that the extrovert in me loves doing this stuff. Like I love being able to speak to the collective and teach and, and give tips and tricks and be able to reach more people and talk about it right. Like I love that. And I always struggled with showing up on friggin social media, like like doing reels, and you know, like, reels and audios and, and whatever, all that jazz, right? And I want to talk I want to touch on that on Instagram and that stuff with you after but I was like real. I was like, I opened I realized how much I love doing this. I’m like, I need to do the podcast because this is going to be my way of getting in front or getting in people’s ears. Right? And but not only that, like, while I was doing my Summit, like so many people said to me, like I love your energy. Right? And like that’s how people connect with you. They connect with us through listening to a speaker or watching us on YouTube or showing up in our stories on Instagram, which totally wasn’t my jam. But do you know I mean?
Tara Reid
Yeah, I mean, and not just like people connecting with you, but the right people will connect with Yes, showing up in that way. And the wrong people are gonna be like, Yeah, I don’t like this person’s energy and leave and that’s fine. You’re totally in the right people and your trust so much quicker than you would if you were just post I always like social media is like shouting into the void.
Julie C Butler
We can have like a full episode on social media alone, right? I’m pretty sure. But let’s talk a little bit a little bit. about like, let’s talk about social media for a minute. And I because I want like, what, what you did last year? I’m you inspired me that you want to share that? Yeah, what I’m talking about
Tara Reid
right? Yeah. When I left Instagram, yeah, in June Yeah, it was, it was a good. I mean, that was something that I let go last year and I don’t regret it at all. It’s been amazing. It’s opened up so much space for in time for me like I didn’t realize how much time I was actually spending on Instagram until I started really thinking about leaving. And I started to track my time and measure my time and not just time, but also energy, the energy I was spending because I think as a multi passionate as an as somebody who loves learning, I would just get sucked into my feed and just taking in all of this information that everyone was sharing and putting it out out about all these different topics. And it was kind of leading to decision paralysis, it was kind of leading to feeling stuck and like I want to be pulled in all these different directions. And I’d be like, Oh, this is a great post about email, I should do this. And then I see another post about creating your course. And I’m like, Oh, I have another course I didn’t like it was just way too, things being thrown at me. And it was exhausting.
Julie C Butler
Yeah. And I think some of us can actually go on social media and like, turn it off, and just go for pleasure, right? But I think me and you like we’re wired a little bit similar in this way that it was the same for me, right? Like I go and I’m like, oh, like I see how people do things. Right. Like, and I’m like, should I be doing it like that? Oh, I love the way she shows up. She’s so good at it. And and then you compare yourself and whatever, which are you have gotten to ask
Tara Reid
you a question. Are you somebody who would like scroll Instagram and take screenshots of
Julie C Butler
yes, all the time.
Tara Reid
And then never again,
Julie C Butler
and never look at them again. I’ve got so many screenshots on my and my phone. totally right. But that can be a detriment to you and your business. Right? It can paralyze you can pause you with. So you know, I become really, really, really considerate about the content consumption. And I unfollowed a bunch of people on Instagram, and it’s not because I don’t love them, right? It’s just to protect myself my energy, and my, my head, my brain and the way I function, right? And the same thing with email. I unsubscribe because it’s just, it consumes so much of your time, right? And I’m very conscious of content consumption, because I, I like like, what are the premise of our conversation is about what we want to bring forth and 2023 or, and leave back leave behind in 2022. And part of that, for me, was looking at the big picture. And I was like, You know what, this is what I want to do, I want to sell my program, I want to sell my program on repeat. I want to sell my digital pro my digital offers, like I have thrivecart templates, Elementor templates, like I love selling those, and I want to have a podcast. And that’s it. That’s what I want to do. I want to go and summit and I want to host my summit twice a year because that is my zone of genius. Like I’m like, that’s where I feel alive. Right. And that’s it. And I realized that you know that the time that I spent on creating those little offers, really to bring in not that like maybe 5% of the income of the whole year. Like, like to me, I can leave that behind for me, right. But all our businesses are made differently. But like for you, for example. So what are like looking back, what does that look like for you?
Tara Reid
Yeah, I think one big thing like around I always, like I looked at everything with my word in mind. I’m like, I want to be more intentional about where I’m spending my time. And a big part of that is again, who I’m learning from, like you shared about unfollowing and unsubscribing. I mean, we can’t listen to everyone. If we do, we will just be huddled in a ball in the corner and not taking any action. So right
Julie C Butler
and we don’t move forward when we do that, right? Because you don’t really know who to follow or how to do it. And it doesn’t give you the permission to be you and do it the way you want to.
Tara Reid
Yeah, so I’ve had to do a major cleanup there. I’m like, if this is not like I’m trying to limit it to like because I do have multiple passions. So I’m trying to limit it to like 20 People 20 People is who I am going to consume content from and even like signing up for bundles like oh my gosh, the bundles are so amazing. I love bundles, but right and in the past I would sign up for every single offer. Like I would sign up for something about like a Kajabi template and I’m like, I am not I Ever going back to Kajabi, I don’t need this, but I want it because it’s included. So I’m gonna sign up for it. And then I get on that email list and get all this Kajabi related content. And I’m like. So for the last few I’ve been really intentional about about just signing up for the things I want. And the things that I actually want to add to my list for my Friday SEO days where I try to go through at least one resource or course or program that I’ve signed up for whether that came through a bundle, or it’s something I signed up for in the past, I’m have a huge list. So I’m being more intentional about where I’m spending my money on new things. Like, there was a really amazing program that I saw just a couple of weeks ago, and I was like, I really want to do this. I was like, I’m already I’m still in two group programs, and a membership. I cannot I can’t right now, it’s it’s just impossible. So I was really proud that I made that decision. Because normally I’d be like, Oh, I’m going for it. I can catch up later. But I’m like, No, I want to, like really make use of this, like the live components of this program. And I know right now, I don’t have the capacity to do it. I know. And that’s
Julie C Butler
important, right? Like realizing, and setting boundaries for ourselves as well. And I think that’s also when you protect your, your yourself from the content consumption. Right? That’s where you can avoid, avoid doing this, right? Because if you’re, you know, like, meet you, like I see it like I, you know, like, I’m targeted, you know, on Facebook ads and stuff like that. So sometimes I see something and I’m like, oh, oh, and then but I, you know, I’m very intentional about turning it off and being like, nope, and staying focused, right? Because that’s, you have to go back to your focus and be like, Okay, so for me, this is my year of, you know, turning my course my program into evergreen turn, like doing all the work to put that together. And then, but also working on creating, right, like, I want to create some beautiful templates for my shop and stuff like that. And so I’m very intentional, about you know, doing that, and, of course, the podcast. And I don’t want to have, I don’t want to be shown other ideas, right? Or other ways of doing things and stuff like that, or whatever that case might be.
Tara Reid
You want to focus on what you’ve set, the intentions you’ve set, and what you’ve decided, you’re going to focus on this year, and anything else is gonna get get in the way of that.
Julie C Butler
Exactly. And you know what, like, you know, like, Tara, my biggest problem last year was I wasn’t growing my list enough, like my list wasn’t growing. So that was my problem. And I knew like we all talk about this, right? Like, figure out what your ideal clients problem is, and fix that problem. I knew what my problem was. My problem was, my list wasn’t growing organically, it wasn’t growing fast enough for my liking. So I was selling my, my stuff to the same people all the time, right. And so knowing what my problem was, I was able to, then well, first of all, I’m a believer in the law of attraction and the universe. And when the student is ready, the teacher appears that never fails. And so, you know, I was actually, I joined a summit and I found someone that could help me fix my problem. And so I hired a coach to help me host my first summit. And that’s kind of when it clicked. For me. I was like, This is what I was meant to be doing. And Thank you universe, because you sent me the right person at the right time and my journey. And now ever since then. Now why that was how I fixed my problem of growing my email list, right? Because you know, like, no matter what, like, if you don’t want to show up on social media or whatever, we have to do something, something somewhere, whatever that looks like, if maybe you’re good at blogging, and your blog every week, you create new content and you share that on Pinterest and you’re really good at like or maybe you’ve got like a tiny offer and your your Facebook ads bring in like a bunch of leads for your email. I hadn’t figured out that what for me yet, right. And I figured out now the summit, hosting my own but also participating, right, participating in summits and bundles and stuff like that. It is so much fun because of the relationships that you make. Right? And so knowing that and moving into this year, I know that a big goal of mine is to continue building my email list, right? Because I was able to have a look also at, Okay, where is it that people buy my stuff from and it’s from my email list, right? Like when I look at the percentages of people who buy something from me from social media versus my email list like I want to say it’s probably 95%. But I think it’s similar for you right, Tara?
Tara Reid
Yeah, definitely the the money is in the list.
Julie C Butler
Yeah. What’s your money is in the list? Oh,
Tara Reid
yeah. I mean, right here, all these stats about email. I forget the one that’s like, I average x dollars every single email I send. I always used to see those stats and be like, but no, it’s not. But it’s, it’s not that hard. It’s just a matter of creating content, nurturing your audience. And I mean that it’s such a fun way to build your own community through your email list. Yes, yeah, it feels even though it feels like you know, you’re just hitting send, and it’s like mass sending. It still feels like more conversational. I feel like email marketing versus just blasting on social media.
Julie C Butler
And then a nurture is the key word here, right? Like, we need to nurture them. Yeah, for sure. And then you can build a great community in our email. And people say, like, I stay on email lists, because I like them. And I want to hear what they’re going to tell like, not because they’re really good at nurturing, right? Like, they share stories. And they, they talk about what they’re the behind the scenes of what they’re, you know, what they’re what’s going on with them and their business like at this time, right? So that’s like, nurturing, right? And you want to hear from them? Yeah, so I was really surprised at when I looked at the statistics of, because I’m a nerd about stats. I’m a nerd. I’m a nerd about spreadsheets and data. I know you are, too. And so I had it all labeled. I had it all like, like, so I basically all of my income, I categorize it like so I’m a photographer as well. So I have a photography business. So I have like, okay, so all the monies that came in through photography, and then all the monies that came in for my program, all the monies that came into my stock membership, and then the monies that came into the summit, etc, etc, etc, affiliate marketing and all that good stuff. And, you know, I only hosted one Summit, it was my first ever and that was the biggest percentage of my income for 2022. And so that made me realize shit, like, I love doing that so much. I can do that two times a year. And also, the percentages were so small and minimal on my little offers that I created on the fly, that I’m like, why would I spend time and energy on those when, you know, I can just focus on my program, right and turn it evergreen and focus on on, you know, selling my program, reoccurring, like monthly, right? And just keep on continually getting people in the door. Right? I mean, I think that it when we talk about scaling, right? Like, like, that’s some of us, that’s what we want, right? We want we create this amazing program, or this amazing group program, or course or whatever. And we want to scale because we want we want to, we want to reach more people and be able to change their business in some way or another, or lives depending on what it is that you do. And also, like, we want to make money, right? Like, I mean, we started our business to make money. Money’s not everything, but it’s up there with oxygen, right? Like it allows us to, to be able to well live, right, like some of us, like we need that second income right to, to provide for our families, especially nowadays with like, you know, the increase in cost of everything. That, you know, I think that like, probably everybody listening is like, Yeah, I’m in like, I’m in for the money too. But we’re also in to make a difference in people’s lives. Right.
Tara Reid
Yeah, I think it’s important that I think, to remember that there’s the balance, they’re like, yes, we need to we want to whatever your Y is like you want to make an impact. You want to help people. That’s That’s great. Like, that’s your driving force, but we still need to make money. So I know especially like my podcast audience of introverts sometimes struggle with the like, they’re great at nurturing and helping, but yet, they forget to ask for the sale.
Julie C Butler
And asking for the sale is the key. Like that’s the key to making money, right? We have to
Tara Reid
ask, and that’s really how you can really help people like they Yeah, your high level help should be paid for this. So yes, you’re not really like asking for the sale, you’re just offering them an additional way to get the help that they need.
Julie C Butler
And they are looking for what you have to offer. So when you don’t ask for the sale, it’s a disservice to them, right? They’re waiting for you to sell them your thing. They want that thing like you know what, like it’s it’s funny you say that because I my program I I’m working on the behind the scenes of things now, and I’m actually I closed it And in the last two days, I received two emails from two different two separate people asking me, When is your program opening? That’s exactly what I need. And I’m like, right, but that is a, that’s a result of me growing my list. And, and also like having the right brand messaging, right, like my messaging is on, on par with like, on point, right. And so, but not just that I also received a message yesterday, which I have to answer her back. But she’s like, she’s like, so I know, you’re creating tribe card templates. Where’s the link? Because I need them if I feel that they’re the right tune for me. Where’s the link for that? So, so I you know, it’s also so reassuring when you get a message like that when people are looking for something you’re not even finished doing yet?
Tara Reid
Yeah, I know that some, I think that’s a good point about selling like, people need to be aware of what you have, like what you’ve created. Like, if you’re not even talking about it, like generating excitement, or even mentioning it. Like, I know, I’ve connected with podcasts, podcast guests, and they talk about an offer. And I’m like, I didn’t even know you did that. Like I went to your website. It wasn’t anywhere. It like that. That sounds amazing. Like, I’m on your email list. I’ve never heard about it. Like that’s, you need to share that more like, create
Julie C Butler
document. Share. We can never overshare and you can never sell too much.
Tara Reid
That’s so true.
Julie C Butler
Mm hmm. Awesome.
Tara Reid
Yeah, well, I think we need to do like an in person episode, like, I know, we’re like, we need to, like do an in person meetup before you move. And I’m like, that would be recorded in person episode where we’re like, Hey, we’re meeting for the first time.
Julie C Butler
It’d be so cool. And you know, like, like, it’s funny, because you were as we were talking like, today, it was funny, because I was like, Oh, my God, that could be its own episode. Right. Like, like, you know, like what you just said about sharing our offers and selling? Like, that could be its own episode, right? Yeah. But like, so to sum it up, I think to summarize, I think that looking back at 2022, and really like having like a bird’s eye view of how you did in your business, what you liked, what you didn’t like, what worked, what didn’t work, I highly encourage you, like, look at your analytics and see, because for me, this is what I discovered. So I pulled up my analytics, okay, I’m like how people, how many people came to my website from Instagram? How many people came to my website from Pinterest? How many people came to my website from, you know, all the platforms. And you know, what I discovered, I discovered that in 12 months, I had about half the amount of clicks to my website from Instagram, as I did from my summit in one week. Half. And I’m like, and, you know, when you were talking about like, we’re spending so much. And that’s not to say like, some people love social media, they were made for social media, and this is not talking to you, right? This is tough, but it could be talking to you if you don’t like LinkedIn, or if you don’t like, you know, YouTube or whatever. So this is like, you know, we’re just talking specifically about Instagram, because that’s what me and Tara not struggled with. But, you know, we’re spending so much time figuring out okay, well, what are we going to post on social media, and then the stories and the reels and the things and then the carousels and that not only that, but then you have to spend time creating the graphics, right? I mean, you can spend like hours doing that, and engaging. Right, right, engaging, but how about the time and energy we spent on thinking about doing that? Right? Like, we spent so much time oh my god, like, I need to sit down and come up with content for for Instagram and posting and reels and iG IG stories and all the things like I was like, I spent so many hours just even thinking about it.
Tara Reid
Right, like saving ideas that you have.
Julie C Butler
Right, right. And so I came to the conclusion, I was like, You know what, screw this. I’m like taking a break from Instagram. I’m like, let’s see how I missed and I’m like, You know what, I’m gonna focus my energy on building creating the podcast, right nurturing my email list because that’s where people are buying my stuff, but I know that I want to, I want to show up and speak and so that you people are able to feel my energy right like and so and take a break from Instagram. And I just like mid December, I was like, No, beginning December. I was like I’m like, I need a break from you, baby. And, and then I just kind of like, you know, kind of randomly I go check, like my favorite, you know, like we’re moving to Costa Rica, right? So I have like my favorite like Costa Rica pages that I follow. So I would go check out their stories and, and then I would just, you know, hop on once a day and I didn’t worry about posting or share once in a while I would share a story or whatever, like a picture of my dogs or whatever. And then but it wasn’t until this week that has started Oh, you know what I feel like sharing a bit more stories now. So I’m going to write, it’s whatever feels in alignment. And now I’m focusing my energies on, you know, really, I want to nurture my email. And I want to also focus on work on the podcast. And that’s what’s happening.
Tara Reid
I love that, that it’s it feels so like, I love your word to alignment and everything you’re doing and what you shared is so in alignment. And that’s such an amazing thing. Like I think if, if you have a year of testing and figuring things out, like it’s going to benefit you so much. I’m so excited for everything you’re doing this year.
Julie C Butler
I’m excited for you, too. But don’t you think, Tara that sometimes it’s a year of exploring, we don’t even know, it’s a year of exploring like I had no idea that last year was going to be a year like that, right? Like it just kind of you know, when they say trusted journey, they know what they’re talking about. They’re talking about, but I feel now that I’m going to do things in alignment that feel in alignment with me, I think that this is going to open up big opportunities for me, it’s going to open up the doors to so much goodness to come in 2023
Tara Reid
Yeah, I actually I think now that I think about it, and I’d have to go back and look because I can’t remember but I’m pretty sure think my word of the year for 2022 is actually alignment. I didn’t I didn’t stick to that at all and
Julie C Butler
stick to it. Oh, you know what? It’s funny because you know, when you said that you you want to just do like, what’s your word again? My God, I forgot already. Oh my gosh. What’s your word? Oh, intentional. So you know when you talk about like just saying yes to the things that I like, I am finding myself now that I said yes to a lot of bundles and summits and I’m like, Oh, shit. Like, that’s me. Now. I’m going through what you went through in the fall. And I’m like, Oh, crap.
Tara Reid
But September, October was like madness. I’m like, Oh my gosh, I said yes to all these things. And now when I’m putting them on the calendar, I know how to promote them. I’m like, oh, shoot, there’s like a ton of things like, my audience is gonna get so sick of event bundles, but I love them so much. I can’t
Julie C Butler
I know. Chances are so your people.
Tara Reid
Yeah, yeah, they always there’s a lot of click throughs on those. And I try to do like Roundup emails if there’s a lot because I’m like, Yeah, I don’t want to send you like three separate solo emails, one for each thing happening.
Julie C Butler
But I know me too. And I’m like, Oh, I can’t just have bundled stuff in my email. So I’m going to, you know, I’m going to sandwich it with like story. Right? Yeah. Awesome. Do you want to conclude with anything? I think this was such a good coffee chat.
Tara Reid
Yeah, this is fun. I love I think like the behind the scenes stuff. I think so many people are gonna get so much out of this. And I, I can’t wait. We have lots of interesting topics that we’ll be diving into. But if anyone has any suggestions or things you hear us chat about, feel free to message or probably email either one of us. Yeah,
Julie C Butler
we’re good. Either way. I’m good on messaging. I’m good on Facebook Messenger or Instagram or email, whatever you prefer email.
Tara Reid
I, I prefer email just as sometimes I’m like the person who you probably know this from messages you sent me on Messenger. Sometimes I’m like, answer right away. Super quick back and forth. And then sometimes I’m like, I don’t even want to open messenger. So it just depends on on how I’m feeling if I respond quickly or not, but I’m trying to get better with it. Because the other I like
Julie C Butler
that if anybody has suggestions. That’s a good one. Plus, we’re working on a really, really awesome project for the spring. So can’t wait to share the deets on that.
Tara Reid
Yeah, and we both have our summits, both happening in April this year, which are going to be amazing. We’ll talk about that too, kind of in the coming months. We’re both speaking on each other’s and some exciting things happening. So this 2023 is gonna be amazing for both of us. And I’m excited that everyone listening is coming on this journey with us.
Julie C Butler
Yes, so Good. Well, thanks so much, Tara. That was I loved I loved our conversation today. It was so good.
Tara Reid
Yeah, it was amazing. And yeah, we’ll be talking soon we’ll be doing this every month, every month. I know I’m so excited. Every month you can make a coffee and listen to these coffee chats and get any gems or any things that we’re dropping or sharing and I’m sure some everyone listening I feel like can take something away from this. Because both of us do so many different things. And
Julie C Butler
I know and we do do things a little bit differently as well. Right. So I think that and you know, the extrovert and the introvert together, you know, chatting about things.
Tara Reid
Awesome. Well, thank you so much for listening and it was great to chat with you today. Julie.
Julie C Butler
Great chatting with you too. And thanks for listening everybody.
